Things last when you take care of them

(even when people tell you that it wouldn't last)

I took the first photo a bit after I bought the plant, and the second one is how the plant looks now.
This plant has been with me since October 2020. When I bought the plant, I asked the vendor how long the plant usually lasts. She said: about 6 - 7 months. At that time, I thought: that's a bit of a short time, but I want to have a plant at my work desk anyway, and I think this plant is cute, so I bought it.
It has been two years and a half (30 months), and the plant is still with me, growing very tall, as shown in the lower right photo.
I am a bit proud of the plant for going against the norm "to live for 6 - 7 months" and still standing strong at month 30th. I also didn't just stop watering the plant on the 7th month. I keep watering it, adding soil to it, and doing what I know to take care of a plant, and the plant is still standing strong.
I'm not saying the vendor is wrong. She shared the general life span of this plant with me, so I am aware and adjust my expectations accordingly.
I guess the moral of the story that I want to make sure I remember is: sometimes, even if an expert or someone who knows the general information about something tells you about that thing, it is good to listen to them so you have some background information about it, AND it is still in your power to change the result, and things usually last longer when you take care of it. This also applies to other things in life: health and relationships, to name a few.
