English fluency is not a determinator of someone's credibility

Growing up, I've always been told that I should learn and be good at English because that could help me get a good job, which is still true to some extent. BUT there are also many great people and experts from all over the world, whose English is not completely fluent, but they are also great at what they do and deserve the same amount of respect.
This is especially true when it comes to the local knowledge inherited from the families/ancestors/people of the land about their traditions, knowledge about the land, the history, and how things work there. So, yes, the ability to communicate with each other is great, but the local people don't have to learn English to accommodate the tourists, for example.
I want to write this as a reminder to myself as well, especially now that the Western media, the ones I used to trust, has been very misleading about what's going on around the world - they play with the words and languages they use to dehumanize impacted people so they don't directly say who committed those crimes, for example - to not solely trust one media sources, and ensure I get information from multiple sources from various backgrounds.
